Wayne Cassady. Obituary, 75 Years Old Man, of Marshall, Illinois, peacefully passed away at his home on Saturday, September 7, 2019, at 11:30 PM after an extended illness. A lifelong resident of the area, Wayne was known for his strong work ethic, love for family, and dedication to his community. Born on December 7, 1943, Wayne was the son of Wayne J. and Jessie L. Kelley Cassady. He attended Marshall High School, graduating in 1963, where he was a proud member of the track team and part of the relay team that competed in the state finals.
Following his education, Wayne worked at Illinois Cereal Mills in Paris, Illinois, and later dedicated himself to farming, a passion that stayed with him throughout his life. On April 2, 1965, Wayne married Sue Harbor, and the couple built a life together centered around family and faith. They were blessed with three children: Doug , Cynthia Cassady of Edwardsville, Illinois; Jenny Williams of Marshall; and Mark Cassady of Sellersburg, Indiana. Wayne was also a proud grandfather to Kylee & Chris Francisco and their son Rown, Kierstyn Cassady with her son Jackson, Joel Cassady, Kasey Cassady, Brailey Cassady, Ashton Williams, Shelby and Ryan Slater, and Gillian Lewis.
His family was his greatest joy, and he was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. Wayne is survived by his wife Sue, his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, as well as his sister Amy Cornwell of Winnebago, Illinois, and brother Steve Cassady of Mattoon, Illinois. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Mike Cassady. A faithful member of Clarksville Baptist Church, Wayne’s faith was an important part of his life. He enjoyed mushroom hunting and cherished time spent with loved ones.
His kind spirit, work ethic, and devotion to family left a lasting impression on all who knew him. Funeral services will be held at 11:30 AM Tuesday at Clarksville Baptist Church, located in rural Marshall. Visitation will be from 9:30 AM until the service. Burial will follow at Clarksville Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Clarksville Baptist Church or the Clark County 4-H Foundation. Arrangements are under the care of Pearce Funeral Services.
