Born on October 1, 2003, in Louisville, Kentucky, Joseph was a young man of determination and compassion. His journey was defined by a strong sense of patriotism and a desire to serve others. He proudly served as a Field Artillery Weapons Locating Radar Operator in the United States Army. Throughout his military career, he was stationed at Fort Sill, Oklahoma, and later at Schofield Barracks in Hawaii. His fellow soldiers remember him as a dependable and courageous individual who embraced every challenge with professionalism and dedication.
Before joining the Army, Joseph graduated from Heritage Hills High School in Dale, Indiana. During his school years, he earned the respect of classmates and teachers alike through his hard work, positive attitude, and willingness to help others. His friendships were lasting, and his character left a lasting impression. Joseph also worked with the Boilermakers Union Local 374 at the Rockport Power Plant, demonstrating his strong work ethic and desire to contribute meaningfully to his community. He was a loving son, survived by his mother, Holly Pittman Matheis, and his father, Darrin Joseph Steiner, Sr. Their support and guidance helped shape him into the man he became. Joseph was engaged to his fiancée, Mattie Harris, with whom he was planning a future filled with love and shared dreams. He is also survived by his brothers, Gregory Thomas Steiner and Kyle Lucas Steiner, along with his stepbrother, Hunter Helmick.
Their bond was a source of joy and strength for him. Joseph was preceded in death by his grandparents, Donnie and Diana Steiner, whose love influenced him greatly.
