David Cordoni Obituary, a gentle and beloved soul, peacefully passed away on June 14, 2026, at Bethammi Nursing Home at the age of 71. Born on June 20, 1954, in Port Arthur, Ontario, David was the cherished son of Herbert and Joanne (nee Martin) Cordoni. Throughout his life, he was known for his kindness, dedication, and warm spirit, leaving a lasting impression on all who knew him. Growing up, David attended Twin Haven School, where he developed a friendly and caring nature.
His strong work ethic was evident in his career, notably with Arc Industries and the Salvation Army. David’s commitment to his work was unwavering; he often arrived hours early, exemplifying his dedication and reliability. His work ethic was complemented by his friendly demeanor and generous heart, traits that endeared him to colleagues and friends alike. David’s passions were simple yet profound. He found joy in listening to music, dancing, and exploring the outdoors often riding his bike for miles or taking refreshing swims. His skill in bowling earned him several trophies, reflecting his dedication and enjoyment of the game.
A social individual, David loved people watching and often shared stories and laughter with friends and family. His love for life was evident in his smiling eyes and the warmth he radiated to everyone around him. He is survived by his two beloved daughters, MaryAnne and Suzanne Zuchan. Their gatherings whether sharing coffee, enjoying a meal at McDonald’s, or celebrating birthdays—brought immense happiness to David, whose eyes would light up with joy in their presence. As the eldest sibling, David is also survived by Lawrence Cordoni (Linda), Bobbi-Lynne Matkowski (Terry), Mary-Jo Strey (Rod), Paul Lapierre (Leslie), Suzanne McMahon and Timothy Jardine. His family extended to treasured Aunt Bobbi Greschuk, numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins near and far.
Predeceased by his brother Graham, parents, grandparents, and nephew Robert Matkowski, David’s memory remains a beacon of love and kindness. His family remembers him as a brother who was always there, offering reassurance with his words, “I’ll Be Ok,” even when they sensed worry. A graveside service will be held at Riverside Cemetery, Section 38, Lot 232, on June 26th at 1:00 pm. All friends and family are welcome to honor his memory and celebrate his life. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Dew Drop Inn or the Thunder Bay District Humane Society, reflecting David’s compassionate spirit toward community and animals.
