Walter D, Ollinger Obituary, Walter Duane Ollinger, born on July 26, 1957, in Pampa, Texas, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of resilience, adventure, and kindness. The son of W.H. and Evelyn Ollinger, Duane was raised in Groom, Texas, amidst the vast fields and open skies of a farming and ranching family. His upbringing instilled in him a strong work ethic and a deep appreciation for the land and community. He graduated from Groom High School in 1975, setting the stage for a life marked by enterprise and daring pursuits. Duane later moved to Dumas, Texas, where he founded and operated Four Star Construction. Under his leadership, the company grew to employ nearly 100 workers, exemplifying his dedication and entrepreneurial spirit.

His boldness extended beyond business; he was known for his attraction to high-risk ventures. Among his most notable investments was his involvement in Blind Frog Ranch, a venture he pursued with full awareness of its challenges. His adventurous life captured public interest and was featured on the Discovery Channel, with Season 6 currently airing, showcasing his fearless pursuit of the unknown. Despite his ventures, Duane treasured his private life and was fiercely protective of his family and friends. Those who knew him appreciated his genuine smile, soft-spoken demeanor, and the warmth he radiated. His kindness and integrity made him a well-liked figure across his community and beyond.

Duane was preceded in death by his parents; his brother-in-laws, Larry Brown and Jerry Ashford; and his sister-in-law, Dianne Ollinger. He leaves behind his beloved partner and best friend, Marylee, who was the love of his life. His children, Tara and her husband Brett, and Chad Ollinger, were his pride and joy. Additionally, he cherished his bonus daughter, Taryn Usher, and her husband Josh, as if she were his own. His sisters, Karen Brown and Pam Ashford of Groom, and brothers, Kelvin Ollinger with wife Debbie of Groom, and Mike Ollinger with wife Julie of Claude, survive him. Duane’s grandchildren Lilly, Hutch, Finn, and Hazel along with their mother, Haley Ollinger, and bonus granddaughter Tenlee Jane Usher, whom he loved dearly, are his lasting legacy. He also leaves numerous nieces, nephews, and cherished friends who valued his loyalty and friendship.
