Thomas R. Donovan Obituary, Thomas R. Donovan, age 88, peacefully passed away, leaving a legacy of leadership, service, and kindness. Born to Roy and Dorothy Donovan in Bridgeport, Chicago, Thomas was a dedicated family man and a respected figure in Chicago’s civic and financial communities. He was the beloved husband of Vita (nee Infantino) for 42 years, a devoted father to the late Brian, Kevin and Grace Donovan. Proud grandfather to Kelsey and “Baby” Vita, Thomas’s family was his greatest joy.
Thomas’s life was marked by his unwavering dedication to public service. He served as Chief of Staff to Chicago mayors Richard J. Daley and Michael A. Bilandic, playing a pivotal role in shaping the city’s governance. His leadership extended to the financial sector as the longest-serving President and CEO of the Chicago Board of Trade, where he contributed significantly to the city’s economic development. As the founding chairman of Quantum Crossings, LLC, Thomas continued to impact Chicago’s business landscape.
A loving brother to the late Patsy, Dorothy And Sullivan, John (Karen) Donovan, and a kind uncle to many nieces and nephews, Thomas’s warmth and loyalty touched countless lives. He was a loyal friend and a man of integrity, known for his generous spirit and commitment to his community. Visitation will be held Friday from 3 to 9 p.m. at Robert J. Sheehy & Sons Funeral Home, 9000 W. 151st Street, Orland Park, IL. Funeral services will commence Saturday at 10:30 a.m., with a funeral mass at 11:30 a.m. at St. Alexander Church, followed by entombment at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Mausoleum of the Archangels, St. Raphael.
