Louise Moores, age 85, of Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, peacefully passed away on June 3rd, 2026, after a courageous battle with lung cancer. Her family and friends are deeply saddened by her departure, but they are grateful for the compassionate care she received from the dedicated team at Home Instead and the VG Palliative Care Unit. Their kindness and companionship provided her comfort during her final weeks. Born in Pointe Claire, Quebec, in 1940, Louise was the beloved daughter of Anita Poirier and Courville Schetagne.
She began her career working for ten years at the CIBC bank in downtown Montreal, where she met her future husband, Scott Moores, who predeceased her in November 2025. After her time in banking, Louise chose to dedicate herself full-time to her family, embracing her role as a nurturing and loving stay-at-home mom. In 1983, Louise and her family moved to Oakville, Ontario, where they spent four joyful years. During this period, she formed lifelong friendships and actively engaged in her children’s schools and community activities. Her warm, caring nature made her a pillar of support and friendship within her neighborhood.
The family relocated to Nova Scotia in 1987, where Louise’s passion for community involvement flourished. She followed local politics avidly, regularly attending city council meetings and supporting numerous Dartmouth politicians. Her dedication stemmed from her love for her community and her desire to see it flourish. She was a committed member of Shannon Park Church, singing in many choirs and contributing to church life. A talented seamstress, avid gardener, and enthusiastic cook, Louise enjoyed watching French news, TV shows, and cheering for the Montreal Canadiens.
She loved engaging in her Lexicons and sharing her passions with loved ones. Louise is survived by her children, Mike Moores (Kathryn) and Chantal Beaver (Foster), along with four grandchildren: Sophie and Ethan Beaver, and Josh and Lexie Moores, all of Dartmouth. She also leaves behind her sister, Lorraine Schetagne (Claude Sarrazin), in Montreal, and brother, Gaston Schetagne (Marlene), in Fredericton. She was predeceased by her brothers Laurent and Andre Schetagne. Louise’s legacy is one of resilience, passion, and unwavering dedication to those she loved. She will be dearly missed.
